Bengaluru is a city known for its strong sense of community and appreciation for diverse arts and cultures. According to Naga pianist Khyochano TCK, who is bringing the Brillante Piano Festival to the city this weekend, the event aims to unite musicians from 18 different countries and 16 Indian states. The festival, which originated in Kohima, Nagaland in 2017, will feature a variety of performances, workshops, competitions, and masterclasses covering genres like jazz, contemporary, and classical music.
One of the unique aspects of the festival is the Specially Abled Musicians (SAM) platform, which was introduced in the 2023 edition to promote inclusivity and admiration for talented individuals with special abilities. Khyochano emphasizes that the festival is about artists coming together from around the world with a shared purpose and vision.
To engage the community prior to the festival, organizers held a street piano event on Church Street, showcasing the power of music and art as expressions of creativity that bring people together. Khyochano highlights how this event exemplified the community's collaborative spirit and the ability of music and art to connect diverse communities.
